Time for another mountain bike trip, I’ve missed mountain biking! I decide to do part of the Christchurch to Little River Rail Trail<\/a>, from Motukarara to be exact, and it’s a return trip of course. This is the start of the trip, at Motukarara. So this entire track used to be a rail track, now only at the start and end are there some remnants of the that<\/p><\/div>\n

Surprisingly the little building in the previous photo is open, time has stood still here<\/p><\/div>\n

So this station is the start of the 22km trail<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"

Quite a few of such bridges on the trail<\/p><\/div>\n

And they’re needed<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"

There’s actually an egg shortage in NZ (and there will be for quite some time), this sign reminded me of the fact that I should get my eggs directly from the farmer, we’ve actually gotten eggs at this very farm some time last year, can’t say I noticed a difference in taste but it’s good to support the locals<\/p><\/div>\n

Getting closer to Lake Ellesmere<\/p><\/div>\n

Lake Ellesmere, one of the dirtiest lakes in NZ, but there’s an even dirtier one!<\/p><\/div>\n

The Kaitune River, coming from the Kaituna Valley and flowing in to Lake Ellesmere<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"

Lake Ellesmere again, it’s so flat and yucky it reminds me of NL<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"

Just on the other side of the trail is another small lake<\/a> with heaps of black swans here<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"

Somewhere along the track I noticed these plants, no idea what they are<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"

But the flowers are quite pretty<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"

Te Oka<\/a><\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"

Not sure what they’re measuring here, likely how disgusting the lake is<\/p><\/div>\n

Anyway, I continue towards Little River, shouldn’t be too far now<\/p><\/div>\n

Yes! Little River. Driven through here so often but never even noticed these trains here<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"

Another one of those<\/p><\/div>\n

I like how they have kept things looking the way they were back in the day<\/p><\/div>\n

I wonder how many people boarded the train here<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"

Besides having an old train station Little River is also known for its SiloStay<\/a><\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"

I decide I have earned an ice cream and take a blurred photo of myself, at least the wall is sharp!!<\/p><\/div>\n

I think this photo clearly shows this lake (Lake Forsyth<\/a>) is the dirtiest, filthiest, most disgusting<\/a> lake in NZ, even swimming here will make you sick<\/p><\/div>\n

Almost back at Motukarara, it’s been a hot and sunny day, the sheep are also trying to stay in the shade as much as possible<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
