Time for another holiday. The plan is to go north, go camping, go kayaking somewhere. The initial plan was to go to Molesworth Station<\/a> but since rain was forecast the decision was made to follow to sun: to the West Coast<\/a>. Here we are passing through Arthur’s Pass National Park<\/a>, surrounded by all those mountains I so often fly<\/a> to in my glider<\/p><\/div>\n

We have a little stop at Lake Poerua<\/a><\/p><\/div>\n

And at the Crooked River Reserve<\/p><\/div>\n

Somehow we end up at Lake Haupiri, it turns out this is where they have the Gloriavale<\/a> Christian Community, right on the other side on the lake<\/p><\/div>\n

There are some walks<\/a> to be done here, we decide to go on one<\/p><\/div>\n

Good day for it<\/p><\/div>\n

We forgot to put on our proper hiking boots, which was a bummer because there were quite a few puddles like this one<\/p><\/div>\n

It’s beautiful here<\/p><\/div>\n

This is where we turn around again, but those are some interesting walks that I’ll likely do some other time<\/p><\/div>\n

The next thing we come across is Kopara<\/p><\/div>\n

An old logging town, not sure why they would have needed a cannon<\/p><\/div>\n

The local pub<\/p><\/div>\n

The Parched Pilgrim<\/p><\/div>\n

The place can be hired for weddings etc<\/p><\/div>\n

They collect bottle openers<\/p><\/div>\n

I imagine lots of line dancing<\/a> will have taken place here<\/p><\/div>\n

Wouldn’t pass a WOF<\/p><\/div>\n

If I’m not mistaken this is the village’s post office<\/p><\/div>\n

We end the day at Nelson<\/a> Creek<\/a>, where there’s a great campsite<\/p><\/div>\n

Hungry! Time for dinner<\/p><\/div>\n
