The plan is to go north, go camping, go kayaking somewhere. The initial plan was to go to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.doc.govt.nz\/parks-and-recreation\/places-to-go\/marlborough\/places\/molesworth-reserve\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Molesworth Station<\/a> but since rain was forecast the decision was made to follow to sun: to the <a href=\"https:\/\/westcoast.co.nz\/visit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">West Coast<\/a>. Here we are passing through <a href=\"https:\/\/www.arthurspass.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Arthur&#8217;s Pass National Park<\/a>, surrounded by all those mountains I so often <a href=\"https:\/\/www.weglide.org\/flight\/518566\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fly<\/a> to in my glider<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/edwinov.com\/edwininnz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/5D3_6595_DxO_result.jpg\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">We have a little stop at <a href=\"https:\/\/lakes380.com\/lakes\/poerua\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lake Poerua<\/a><\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/edwinov.com\/edwininnz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/5D3_6598_DxO_result.jpg\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">And at the Crooked River Reserve<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/edwinov.com\/edwininnz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/5D3_6603_DxO_result.jpg\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Somehow we end up at Lake Haupiri, it turns out this is where they have the <a href=\"https:\/\/gloriavale.org.nz\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gloriavale<\/a> Christian Community, right on the other side on the lake<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/edwinov.com\/edwininnz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/5D3_6605_DxO_result.jpg\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">There are some <a href=\"https:\/\/www.doc.govt.nz\/parks-and-recreation\/places-to-go\/west-coast\/places\/ahaura-river-and-lake-brunner-catchments-area\/things-to-do\/tracks\/brian-olyn-route\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">walks<\/a> to be done here, we decide to go on one<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/edwinov.com\/edwininnz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/5D3_6607_DxO_result.jpg\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Good day for it<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/edwinov.com\/edwininnz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/5D3_6610_DxO_result.jpg\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">We forgot to put on our proper hiking boots, which was a bummer because there were quite a few puddles like this one<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/edwinov.com\/edwininnz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/5D3_6612_DxO_result.jpg\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">It&#8217;s beautiful here<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/edwinov.com\/edwininnz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/5D3_6617_DxO_result.jpg\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">This is where we turn around again, but those are some interesting walks that I&#8217;ll likely do some other time<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/edwinov.com\/edwininnz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/5D3_6619_DxO_result.jpg\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">The next thing we come across is Kopara<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/edwinov.com\/edwininnz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/5D3_6624_DxO_result.jpg\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">An old logging town, not sure why they would have needed a cannon<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/edwinov.com\/edwininnz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/5D3_6625_DxO_result.jpg\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">The local pub<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/edwinov.com\/edwininnz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/5D3_6626_DxO_result.jpg\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Parched Pilgrim<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/edwinov.com\/edwininnz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/5D3_6631_DxO_result.jpg\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">The place can be hired for weddings etc<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/edwinov.com\/edwininnz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/5D3_6633_DxO_result.jpg\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">They collect bottle openers<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/edwinov.com\/edwininnz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/5D3_6634_DxO_result.jpg\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">I imagine lots of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Line_dance\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">line dancing<\/a> will have taken place here<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/edwinov.com\/edwininnz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/5D3_6643_DxO_result.jpg\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Wouldn&#8217;t pass a WOF<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/edwinov.com\/edwininnz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/5D3_6646_DxO_result.jpg\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">If I&#8217;m not mistaken this is the village&#8217;s post office<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/edwinov.com\/edwininnz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/5D3_6655_DxO_result.jpg\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">We end the day at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nelsoncreekreserve.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nelson<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/campermate.com\/en\/location\/new-zealand\/wtc\/west-coast\/paid-campground\/nelson-creek-recreation-reserve\/994c588f-e685-449c-afed-e43ced52c77d\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Creek<\/a>, where there&#8217;s a great campsite<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/edwinov.com\/edwininnz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/5D3_6658_DxO_result.jpg\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Hungry!
