Today is day 1 of our yearly holiday. We take the Inland Scenic Route and soon witness how a little fire can generate a massive cumulus cloud, that actually looks like a bomb was just dropped<\/p><\/div>\n

The Rakaia and Mt Hutt in the distance<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"

The mighty Jimny, ready for it’s first big adventure<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"

They’re in for a fun ride on the Rakaia<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"

Burkes Pass, not just a great place for a coffee or ice cream<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"

But also to have a look at all the old stuff on display here<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"

No sure if Dirty Bird is supposed to be Woody Woodpecker but I definitely recognize Wile E. Coyote<\/p><\/div>\n

Rachel is stoked to find an apple tree in Tekapo<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"

The view from our first camping spot, at Lake Pukaki, Mt Cook in the distance<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"

Finally some time to read the paragliding magazine<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"

Lots, and I mean LOTS, of insects in the air today. Hundreds of dead butterflies all over the car, especially headlights and windscreen<\/p><\/div>\n

The drone is capturing some great views, last year we camped just opposite that little island<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"

It’s good to have some option to freedom camp here<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"

Lots of great little camp spots here<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"

The sun is almost gone, leaving us with a beautiful orange purple sky<\/p><\/div>\n

And the moon<\/p><\/div>\n
