The Fact or Fiction quiz is made up of a number of different components:
• Last Team Standing
This is often used as a warming-up to the main quiz. All participants will be asked to stand up. Next a question will be asked and both a correct and a false answer will be given. If a person thinks the first answer is the correct one they put their hands on their head, if they think the second answer is the correct answer they place their hands on their bottom. After everyone has ‘placed their bets’ the correct answer will be given and all those who had it wrong must sit down. This is continued until only one team has (one or more) people left standing. The winner can be given a prize like a voucher for a drink or a head start in the form of some starting points for the main quiz. It’s up to the organiser of the quiz to decide what the prize will be.
• 8 Rounds of Questions
Every week the topics change and the questions will be about recent and older things. Popular topics are music, movies, geography, make the connection, science and food, to name just a few.
• The Double-Up
Before the quiz starts you pick two rounds for which you will get the double amount of points. Try to choose the rounds the team as a whole thinks it will perform best at.
• Serious Stumper
This is a problem where in each round a bit more information is revealed, the sooner you have the correct answer the higher your score. If your answer is wrong you try again in the next round where the new clue might be just what you needed to know the answer. The answer could be many things, for example the name of a band, a year, a celebrity, an event or a country.
• top10
This round comes after the fourth round so halfway through the quiz. A question will be asked where at least 10 answers are possible and they should be listed in order of certainty because as soon as a false answer is given no more points are earned. So even if a team has given 9 correct answers but 1 false answer and that false answer is at number 4, the team will only get points for the 3 correct answers above it.
