Holiday – Day 11 – Lake Wakatipu

We’re leaving Mavora Lakes but not before taking a photo of what turns out to be a one of the landout sites for gliders

One more look at the Livingstone Mountains

And South Mavora Lake

Along the Mt Nicholas Road towards Walkter Peak

Old Nicholas

Walter Peak, which is nothing more than an expensive tourist trap really

For people that arrive with the Earnslaw from Queenstown

The view towards Wilson Bay

We wanted to stay at the campsite here but of course you can’t get there by car and we don’t feel like walking that distance with all our gear

So we drove back

And thoroughly enjoyed the views along the Mount Nicholas Beach Bay Road, Mt Alfred in the far distance

Thomson Mountains

We are in a sunny hotspot here with thick low cloud to the east of us

View back towards Queenstown

Gravel Pit

View from near the Kiwi Burn Hut Track

Bridge over the Mararoa River

  1. Speaking of facial pareidolia, (seeing faces in objects – I looked it up) I see one in the centre of the topline of the Livingston mountains. It’s looking into the sky and even has hair.
I wish I had your photographer’s eye. Lots of calender shots and a nice variety of scenes
